Happy New Year! The next Volunteer Orientation is scheduled for February 12. For all the latest info on upcoming events and volunteer orientations, remember to check the ABC calendar page.
Another very big thanks to Paul and everyone at HTC Piercing in Tempe! Their second annual fundraiser brought in over $2200 for all the ABC cats and dogs who are awaiting their loving forever homes. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit our sweet friend Dolly, and to everyone who participated!
ABC was the winner, on behalf of Mark P. from Mesa, in the 2011 Tales for the Pet Lover's Heart sweepstakes. You can read and watch all the Tales for the Pet Lover's Heart on the official website, HERE.
Lola and her puppies were found near 43rd and Glendale, but by the time ABC volunteers arrived someone had taken the puppies away from her. Sweet Lola is now safe at ABC, but the puppies could be in jeopardy without their mother.
A big thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who stopped by the PACC911 Franciscan event today. There was a great turnout and the day was a big success for all the rescue groups! Bingo and Sophia made lots of new friends. :)
ABC takes in animals that would not have a chance anywhere else. It takes a lot of money to pay for the veterinary care, food, and utilities required to keep us healthy and happy. On top of all those bills, ABC also has a mortgage. ABC was recently offered the chance to pay off the mortgage in full at a huge discount! If we can raise $100,000 by September 30, this wonderful place will be secure for all the animals that need ABC's special care and rehabilitation. If the goal is not met, all funds will continue to go toward veterinary care, food, and utilities, but we are confident that you will help us make the mortgage disappear. In this uncertain economy, it would be a huge relief to know our home could never be taken away.
All of the animals at ABC send their heartfelt thanks out to Jenn and Jazz Cline, Kevin at Metals USA, and Bob Mengel for all of their generous assistance getting new awnings installed just in time for summer. Thank you so much for your kindess and hard work!
Loving Hut, a vegan restaurant in NW Phoenix, recently made a very generous donation to all the animals here at ABC. Thank you so much for your continued support!
ABC15 also covered Trinity's story, visit ABC15.com to view.
ABC was one of 18 shelters in this year's Tales From the Pet Lover's Heart shelter contest. ABC submitted Selene's story and video and while we didn't win first place, ABC was selected as one of the four finalists! You can watch Selene's video along with the other 14 entries on the Tales From the Pet Lover's Heart website HERE. We've also posted the Selene's Tale video to the right in its correct widescreen aspect ratio. (All of the videos on the Tales website are squished to a 4:3 aspect ratio).
Angelic Sage and her newborn puppies were found on the Salt River Indian Reservation in an abandoned building near the Casino. Read the story and watch video of all three beautiful dogs by clicking this link to azfamily.com.
"It was just one dog. It roamed a concrete basin south of Mesa's Fiesta Mall, not far from a two-story parking garage where everyday shoppers likely caught a glance of the stray, scared and dirty, ribs poking through matted fur. Maybe they shook their heads and felt pity before stuffing their bags into their trunks and driving away." Read the full story by clicking this link to azcentral.com.

ABC arrivals Selene and her puppies, Soleil and Star (both adopted!), were rescued from a trash filled canal by a group of wonderful volunteers. Read more about the rescue at Fox10 News.animal spotlight
Bonnie & Clyde
Mischevious Bonnie and Clyde were found running around the streets of Phoenix together. They were on something of a crime spree...if being absurdly adorable is a crime. These two pals adore people and love to romp around the yards together. Check out more videos of ABC's adoptable cats and dogs on the videos page.
Selene's Tale
Selene's Tale also features many of the other dogs here at ABC: Luna, Doyle, Gorda (adopted!), Rufus (adopted!), Sienna, Finley (adopted!), Chaucer (adopted!), Buddy, (adopted!) Katie, Kaylee (adopted!), Montana, Ty (adopted!), Corinne (adopted!), Bandit (adopted!), and Ivy. You can read more about them on the dogs page and watch videos of more cats and dogs on the videos page.
